a butterfly photo opportunity

Finally!!   I had the opportunity to find these butterflies when at Carnarvon Gorge, Central Qld.  I'm hoping I've identified them correctly.  It really was engaging to watch them and follow with my camera.

Monarch Butterfly

Australian Crow Butterfly

would love to know the name of this plant too; maybe Tropical Milkweed?

Lesser Wanderer Butterfly

Looks as if you and I were on the same page this day on our photography. Love t his lesser wanderer, and have never seen one of these before. I too photographed one of these same orange and yellow flowers... are they lanatana?? Not sure, but they look similar to my lantana, but a bit more "rangey"

thanks everyone for your comments this post, and to JEANNE - definately not Lantana, see an old post here http://tinyurl.com/kypy8tm but did a quick online search this morning and believe it to be Tropical Milkweed perhaps? What do you think?

Everything is more beautiful when we slow down, look close and take the time to truly see.

So pretty! We don't get many varieties of butterflies here.

How easily these pictures have to do without the butterflies scare. And few varieties! Excellent macro, Carole.

Funnily enough, I was trying to identify the resting plant of a Monarch the other day, and had a good search through milkweeds - your plant there definitely looks like one in my opinion! It's the plant that they lay their eggs on. Strange to see them in a desert setting though - I'm used to them being coastal creatures.
